Joe Banjo

Joe Banjo is a 9 year old Stallion by Dock who has an interesting story. When Banjo was born in 1998 Jason Stefanic our 15 year old son was totally enthralled. Jason had been riding Mountain Horses since he was 8 and was really waiting for that special horse to come along. After seeing that Jason had claimed Banjo for his own as a baby, Sue and I decided that this special dark chocolate, white mane and tail stud colt, needed a special name. Name after name had come up and we just weren’t happy that we found the right one yet.

One trip back from Kentucky to our home state of Pa. made the difference. As we played the name game for yet another go, Sue asked me to turn down the radio in the car, Jon Bon Jovi was playing a tune. I said to Sue, how about JOHN BANJO, Sue said how about JOE? Many people have asked us how we came up with the name Joe Banjo because they thought it was so unique.

Not only did Joe Banjo’s name turn out to be unique, but so did Banjo. Jason broke Banjo as a three year old and decided that was the year he would show him all by himself . Jason had turned 18 that year and he was able to show the Stallion Joe Banjo in the big show at the Ky. Horse Park. 2001 was a banner year for Jason and Banjo for they together won the coveted Sam Tuttle Award. The youngest rider and horse to ever do so at that time. In 2002, Jason and Banjo did it again, they won the Sam Tuttle Award in back to back years and he also went on to become the UMH/ KMSHA World Classic Grand Champion. Many have seen Joe Banjo’s picture’s in magazines and on posters. His photo’s were published all around the World. Many know and have grown to love this beautiful and exceptional Stallion and his popularity is unsurpassed.

JOE BANJO stands at Classic Farm in Georgetown, Ky. For Stud fee or other information contact us at Classic Farm.  Thank you.
